ACT WOMENÂ’S SINGLES CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS

Ruth Moore has won the ACT WomenÂ’s Singles Champion of Champions event for 2005.  Ruth won 6 of her 8 games and held a big shots margin to take the title.

ACT WOMENÂ’S STATE PAIRS

The ACT WomenÂ’s State Pairs were held in April 2005 at Tuggeranong Valley Bowling Club.  Once again the Canberra City Women were prominent.  This year there were three CCBC teams in the quarter finals:

  • Ruth Moore and Loretta Gillespie
  • Wendy Small and Ruth Serpell
  • Jan Taylor and Ann Streeter

In the quarter finals:

  • Wendy Small and Ruth Serpell defeated Ruth Moore and Loretta Gillespie
  • Jan Taylor and Ann Streeter defeated Kaylene McAuley and Roz Waters (from Tuggeranong)

Unfortunately the two City teams had to play off in the semi-finals.  This was a keenly contested game up until the final few ends.  The result was a win to Jan Taylor and Ann Streeter.

The final was even more tightly contested and the result was decided after TWO extra ends.  Unfortunately CityÂ’s Jan and Ann were runners-up to Michelle and Di Turner from Weston Creek.

Runners-up: Jan Taylor & Ann Streeter   Semi-finalists: Wendy Small & Ruth Serpell

Congratulations to all our bowlers on their performances in the Pairs.

Ruth was in fine company at Moama, where Steve Glasson picked up his fifth Australian SuperSingles trophy.

Superleague Silver Medallist – Loretta Gillespie

Loretta Gillespie (Canberra City) and Lois Waters (Canberra Forrest) represented the ACT in the WomenÂ’s Pairs at the Australian SuperLeague in May 2004.  Loretta and Lois won through to the final which they lost 15-14 on the last bowl of the match.  Nevertheless it was a great effort to come away with the silver medal.
