Canberra City Bowling Club
18 June 2010 - Change of Bowls Year - Members are reminded that the Bowls ACT calendar has been changed from 1 July-30 June to 1 January-31 December commencing in 2011. This was done to fall into line with the Bowls Australia calendar. In consequence the Canberra City BC will also play its bowls calendar from 1 January to 31 December. The immediate implication of this is that there will be a six month hiatus (bridging period) from 1 July 2010 to 31 December 2010 when none of the traditional championships will be played. The club major championships are expected to be played in the first few months of the calendar year (January to April) in order to fit in with state events (i.e. champion of champions). It is not yet confirmed what dates ACT championships and pennants will be played but at this stage they are expected to be around the same time of year as in previous years. This may mean a busy calendar from January to April!
18 June 2010 - Rollup Policy - The CCBC Committee recently posted a draft rollup policy in the clubhouse inviting comments before making it official. The intent of the policy is to provide transparency and fairness in the use of the greens for rollups, and to ensure that members are encouraged and entitled to practice on a regular basis. If any members have comments on this policy they should put them in writing to the committee by 3rd July 2010.
18 June 2010 - Changed Starting Time for Wednesday Bowls - From Wed 7 July until further notice the Men's Social Bowls played on Wednesdays will start at 12:30pm instead of 1pm. This does NOT apply to Saturday social bowls.
18 June 2010 - Lord and Lady Day - This event will now be played on Sunday 20th June following its earlier postponement due to inclement weather.
